The Malibu Lagoon Museum which was once known as the family beach house is now a National Historic Site and is open to the public.
Explore Escondido Falls
You may reach one of California’s most stunning waterfalls by hiking the 3.8-mile roundtrip trail that begins near the Pacific Coast Highway.
The paved Winding Way trail heads uphill for 0.75 miles, crossing some truly extravagant homes. You will cover about 200 feet before the trail starts going downhill to get connected with Escondido Canyon Park.
The trail is enjoyable and a great way for a family outing. It winds along with flowering meadows, and fields of mustard and fennel, hopping across a small creek that runs through Escondido Canyon.
The upper portions of the falls are on private property and are adjourned to the public, but the lower falls are well worth enjoying, green with moss, and falling into a small pool.
Escondido Falls is one of the most popular hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains so is mostly busy with regular visitors. Come early in the day and avoid weekends if you want privacy.
Challenge yourself by hiking Mishe Mokwa Trail
